# System Administration

This section covers the management of the BEAM platform itself (the hardware, operating system, security, and more), rather than the media workflows running on it.

## Server Management

Manage the physical or virtual notes in your BEAM cluster.

- Manage Servers: Add, remove, or reboot nodes.
- Failover Groups: Configure redundancy groups for automatic failover.

## Security & Access

Configure security settings and user access controls.

- User Management: Create local users and assign roles.
- LDAP Configuration: Integrate with Active Directory for centralised auth.
- SSL Certificates: Install customer-signed certificates for HTTPS.

## Network & Time

Configure the network settings and time synchronization.

- Configure Network Interfaces: Set IP addresses, DNS, IGMP, and firewall zones.
- Control Interface Wizard: Configure the Control interface, MK.IO HTTP proxy, and diagnose network issues.
- Bonded Interfaces: Configure active-backup interfaces for redundancy.
- VLAN Interfaces: Add and delete VLAN interfaces from the command line.
- Jumbo Frames: Set the MTU to enable jumbo frames for high data rate streams.
- System Clock: Synchronize time via NTP, TDT or PTP.
- Router Configuration: Connect to external SDI routers for input switching.

## Maintenance & Monitoring

Keep the system healthy and monitor its performance.

- Backup & Restore: Save and restore system configurations.
- Manage Alarms: Configure alarm severity and SNMP traps.
- Generate Support Package: Create log bundles for MediaKind support.
- Install the ISO: How to install the beam ISO.
- Processing Types: Enable or disable processing types to optimize performance.
